Lakeview Mat Club shines at tournament

The Lakeview Mat Club had a stellar showing at the Modoc Wrestling Tournament in Alturas, Calif. on Saturday, March 15, with all 18 wrestlers from the Mat Club placing in the top five in at least one division.

Over 200 wrestlers competed in the tournament from Ore. and Calif., with some participating in as many as eight matches.

Parker Johnson, Steven Stogsdill, Porter Johnson, Rale Harmon, Morgan Ludwig, Zaryk Winters, and Clyde Mobley all had first place finishes in their respective weight classes. Tommy Gallagher, Denver Johnson, Dylan Julian, Wyatt Julian, Miles Maxwell, Adrian Stubbs, and Kylen Ward all had second place finishes in their division. Hunter Greer, Mason Harmon, Corbin Start, and Riley Newbill all had third or fourth place finishes for the Lakeview Mat Club.

The club will next travel to a tournament in Chester, Calif. on April 5, and will conclude their season at the world’s largest youth wrestling tournament in Reno, Nev., on April 11-13.

Lakeview Mat Club is a structured wrestling program offered for kids ages 5-14, competing from Nov. through April. All skill levels are welcome to join, with a $20 club fee and a $35 USA Wrestling card required. Practices are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Lakeview High School Wrestling Room.
