Lane Hadley, a multi-sport star during his time at Lakeview High School, will get one final chance to represent Lakeview when he plays in the Oregon Shrine East-West All Star Football game on Saturday, Aug. 2.
In addition to Hadley, two other Lakeview football players, Christian Roseberry and Logan Staub, were also selected as alternates for the east squad.
It is the 62nd year of the annual all-star game, organized by Oregon Shriners as a way to promote the best and brightest senior football players, cheerleaders, and coaches from OSAA Class 1A – 4A schools. The game also raises funds and awareness for the Portland Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Alongside Hadley the east squad also comprises star high school senior football players from schools such as Nyssa, Burns, Grant Union, Vale, Mazama and Cascade Christian.
During his time at LHS, Hadley was named first team all-league as a running back, linebacker and kick returner, and first team all-state as a returner. He also was the 2013-14 3A SCL Basketball Player of the Year, and won three state 3A titles at the 2014 Oregon high school track and field championships held at Hayward Field in May.
The all-star game itself is just one of the activities surrounding the weekend to help with the Shriner’s noble cause of supporting 22 children’s hospitals around North America, Mexico and Canada. There will also be a golf tournament, parade and players will get a chance to visit children in the Portland Shriner’s hospital.
The Oregon Shrine football game will take place at Baker High School in Baker City, Ore. on Saturday, Aug. 2. The game will be broadcast on Root Sports Network.
