Late-inning thrilling comeback spurs LHS victory over Henley

May 7, 2014 by

It wasn’t the typical 20 run scoring output that Honker softball fans may have become accustomed to recently from the offensive juggernaut that has been Lakeview High School softball, but in the end it was just enough as LHS Varsity scored three runs in the final inning to edge out Henley JV 6-5 on Thursday, May 1.

Down 3-0 early to Henley High School’s junior varsity team, Lakeview scored three runs in the fourth inning to tie it, but Henley recaptured the lead in the sixth with two additional runs, making it 5-3.

Henley’s defense and pitching stymied much of the usually very-potent Lakeview offensive attack that has been racking up surplus runs nearly at will, but facing their final three outs clutch hitting and aggressive base-running proved the difference, as has been the trend all season.
