Lake County’s Chamber of Commerce will host its 2nd annual Tour de Outback this Friday, Aug. 2, to Sunday, Aug. 4.

There will be four different ride distances, with each to be completed on either a mountain or a road bike, and with distances coming in beginner 10 and 20 miles, intermediate 46 miles, and 100 miles, according to Chamber of Commerce Dir. Tule Chiono.

The cost to participate is $50, plus an additional $35 for more family members.

The registration fee covers all three days of riding, a Wick-style shirt, a free Subway lunch at the finish line, a beverage coupon, and AID stations.

Friday’s “Ski & Brew” event will meet at Hunter’s Hot Springs Resort and will ride to Warner Mountain Ski area and back to Hunter’s to enjoy a beverage.

Saturday’s “Tour de Outback” event is available to all riders and features a road course on Thomas Creek Road, leaving from the Lake County Chamber of Commerce at 126 N. E. St.

Intermediate riders can participate in the Cottonwood Trail, which offers fourteen miles of beauty to one’s ride.

Sunday’s “Tour of the Scenic Bikeway” ride will take riders on a tour of the proposed scenic bike route that Lake County is currently on a list of top 3 finalists for, pending approval this fall. The ride will showcase the scenic offerings unique to Lake County.

Saturday’s 10-mile ride costs $25 without the shirt, or $40 with the shirt.

Proceeds raised by the Tour de Outback will go toward the Cancer Treatment Center charity at Lake District Hospital.

Those who wish to participate can register www.active.com and at the Chamber of Commerce.

Registration forms can be picked up at Subway in Lakeview and at the Chamber of Commerce.

Hunter’s Hot Springs will be hosting a post-ride party for bikers.
