A food drive during the month of February successfully collected a healthy amount of food donations that benefitted the Lake County Food Share program.
The food drive, held Feb. 1 through Feb. 28, served as part of the 50,000 Pound Food Challenge, a partnership effort between Oregon FFA chapters and Les Schwab Tire Centers throughout the state. Drop-off points were set up at Lakeview’s Les Schwab store, as well as Lakeview High School.
Members of the Lakeview FFA program, advised by Jennifer Henning, as well as Lakeview’s Les Schwab Mgr. Mike Asby and Lake County Food Share representative Joe Wright gathered on Tuesday, March 5, in honor of the occasion. The food collected was then transported to the local Food Share warehouse.
A total of 530 pounds of food was collected through the month-long drive, Henning said.
The FFA chapters and Les Schwab stores that collected the most food will receive a $250 chapter scholarship, as well as a prize for both the Les Schwab store and middle school and high school class that collect the most food.
