Lakeview High School Varsity softball couldn’t hold on to an early lead at Rogue River, giving up five runs in the fifth inning, resulting in a 8-6 loss on Tuesday, May 6.
LHS held a 4-1 lead going into the fifth, but a big rally by Rogue River let the game slip away in a surprisingly low scoring game based on recent performance by the high-flying Honkers.
Amanda Arcularius contributed to the offensive output with a triple, and Katie Hadley added a double. Brandi Larson, Abbi Brooks and Hadley each had two hits in the game. Hadley and Jessica Alves also contributed on the base paths with a stolen base each. Part of the LHS collapse came as a result of seven errors on the day, combined with leaving 10 runners on base proved to be too many missed opportunities to overcome.
LHS scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to fight back after the big Rogue River inning, tying the game at 6-6, but Rogue scored two more in the bottom half of the inning to seal it, 8-6.
