Scoring a night’s stay in Salem, the Lakeview boy’s soccer team nevertheless lost to Blanchet Catholic 0-2 on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
“We dug ourselves a hole by having a slow start,” said Lakeview coach Jim Nicholl.
“It’s tough to play on unfamiliar ground and slow starts were a difficulty all year on the road.”
Blanchet scored once in the 16th minute of the game, and again in the 18th minute of the first half.
Neither side managed a goal for the rest of the game.
Nicholl noted that once the boys settled in, the game was very even in terms of both ball possession and scoring opportunities.
Lakeview never found the back of the net with their efforts, though, and the game turned into a loss for the hopeful Honkers.
“The kids really played a great second half and I was certainly proud of their effort,” said Nicholl.
This marks the last leg of the Lakeview fall sports season. The earliest winter practices are set to begin on Monday, Nov. 18.
