Lakeview High School’s track team had a great day at the Sterling/Lithia Invitational at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls on Saturday, April 26, placing high in several events and setting new personal bests along the way.
It was a crowded field of competitors at the qualifying event in Klamath Falls, with 24 total schools entering athletes in the track meet.
The top performance for the LHS boys team was senior Lane Hadley, setting a new personal record in the 100 meters at 11.38 seconds, good enough for fourth place. Pierce Schreder also set a new record in the high jump with a leap of 5’10”, more than four inches better than his previous best mark and good enough for fourth place. Schreder also finished in the pole vault with a respectable 9’06” clearance.
Senior Marco Guitron placed in both the 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles, while Tyler McManus and Austin Webb both finished well in the javelin. The boys team finished 16th overall in the team competition.
For the girls team it was the familiar dynamic duo of Delaney Hall and Miranda Conley, who have finished at or near the top of the throwing events in every track meet all year. For Hall it was yet another first place finish in javelin with a throw of 131’01”, while Conley placed fifth in the event with a throw of 115’07”, breaking her best throw by over seven feet. Conley also finished seventh in discus and fourth in shot put.
Lily Sabin finished eighth in the 3000 meters with a time of 12:30.31, and 14th in the 800 meters in 2:46.16 seconds, while Anna Fledderjohann placed ninth in the 800 meters at 2:42.25.
Faith Witham set a new personal record in the 200 meters at 31.18, but it was Madisen Schreder with the highest finish in the event for LHS with 29.38 seconds, good enough for seventh overall.
The two LHS relay teams both placed tenth in the 4×100 meter relay and 4×400 meter relay.
The LHS track team next hosts the Lakeview Invitational track meet on Saturday, May 3.
