Lakeview High School Varsity Softball got up early and often on Cascade Christian at home, scoring seven runs in the first inning in a 25-9 victory on Tuesday, April 29.
Cascade Christian scored three runs in the top of the first inning to jump out early, but their lead would be short lived. Back-to-back homeruns by LHS pushed the Honkers out in front with the offensive onslaught just beginning in a game that would eventually be called under the mercy rule at 25-9.
“There’s not a lot to complain about after scoring 25 runs,” said LHS Softball Head Coach Jackie Robinson. “It may sound nit picky, but they shouldn’t have scored nine runs on us, we should be playing flawless defense, so we’re going to go back to practice and work harder on making routine plays. We need to be more aggressive and come to the ball to make plays happen like we do on the bases.”
Aggressive base-running and patient at-bats have been the key for the Lady Honkers in a recent offensive explosion the past two weeks for LHS, amassing double-digit run totals in nearly every single game for both junior varsity and varsity.
