LHS Softball on to state, possible district title

In the final full week of the regular season Lakeview High School softball dropped a series of games, leaving their first place ranking in District 1 in flux with a final game Tuesday to determine final standings.

The week started with a non-league double header at Modoc  on Tuesday, May 13, LHS losing both games 13-0 and 4-2. Modoc held the normally potent LHS attack hitless for the first time all season, surrendering only one walk to Amanda Arcularius. Modoc picked up 13 runs on 10 hits.

Thursday, May 15 the team looked to rebound from the Modoc series with a late addition game at Mazama, and while the offense returned the Honkers again came up short, losing 16-14.

Abbi Brooks lasted only one inning in the circle before being pulled after Mazama burst out to nine runs in the first, then tacked on six more in the third with Hannah Ramsey taking over for Brooks.

Saturday a double header at Cascade Christian presented a key league matchup to preserve the Honkers’ position atop District 1. Needing both wins to secure home field, LHS could only split the two games, taking the first 18-5.

LHS was down 3-0 to Cascade Christian after one inning, but in the second tallied seven runs to pull away.
