Lakeview girls lost to Bonanza and Cascade Christian last week during two hard-fought matches that went to five games each after each side won two of the sets. The lady Honkers faced Bonanza on Tuesday, Oct. 15, playing against Cascade on Thursday, Oct. 17.
Thursday also happened to be Senior Night for the volleyball team as well as a Wear Pink game in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The Lakeview volleyball coach, BJ Albertson, said the Bonanza team won with hustle, not allowing many balls to touch the ground in their court and being very aggressive at the net. “Our inability to consistently pass the ball left us playing defense and unable to find our groove on offense,” said Albertson.
Their next match, according to Albertson, was great to coach and watch. “The entire match was back and forth, a battle between the two top teams in the conference,” said the Lakeview coach, “Our girls played with the passion and heart we have been looking for all season and have found just in time to head into league playoffs with the chance to advance into the state playoffs.”
Cascade secured the first place seeding in the league with their win over Lakeview, which left Lakeview team in second. The third place team will be decided next week.
For their last league match, Lakeview’s volleyball team will be playing against Rogue River. Their next game will bring them up against the third place team in the league, deciding who will advance to state playoffs and play Cascade once more for the league champion title.
