New shelves are filled with the old books at the Lake County Public Library building at 26 S. G St., which opened for business for the first time on Saturday, Nov. 9. A Grand Opening and dedication ceremony is planned for this next Saturday, Nov. 16, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Special guests include Oregon’s State Librarian, MaryKay Dahlgreen, and Oregon’s sixth and current Poet Laureate, Paulann Petersen.
The event will feature a story time for children, as well as a presentation by Dahlgreen and a special reading of a poem about the new library, written by Petersen.
Music and refreshments will also be provided as part of the afternoon’s festivities, with a chance to hear statements about the new location from leaders of the community.
For those who haven’t yet visited the library in the new building, it is now open for normal business hours, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays from noon to 4:0 p.m.
Those who were unable to return books during the move can now do so at the new library, and computers with Internet access and self-checkout stations are now available.
