Some energy audit services will be provided as part of the wood stove change-out program coordinated by South Central Oregon Economic Development District.
Local SCOEDD Economic Development Specialist Audrey Henry said that inspectors examining residences participating in the program would be looking for weatherization opportunities during the inspection process.
Funding for this component is managed through the Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) and is known as the State Home Oil Weatherization (SHOW) program.
Henry said that it would be limited to minor needs, such as caulking for windows and weather stripping.
More extreme weatherization needs would be directed to the Medford-based ACCESS Community Action Service of Jackson County program.
Funding streams for wood stove change-outs, which are part of a concerted effort to improve local air quality by replacing older, inefficient units with newer, cleaner-burning models, Henry said.
“We’re trying to make sure we take care of as many people as possible,” Henry said. “We’re trying to make sure a fair share of the money gets spent in Lake County.”
