Lakeview Lions have got more stuff than space; but that’s a good predicament to be in.
The local service club’s efforts in collecting donated items for their annual auction fundraiser event have superseded their expectations. At present, they have exceeded the storage space afforded by their Quonset hut in town due to the sheer quantity of items received for the auction.
Lions Treasurer Lee Sanders noted that Fields Flynn donated the use of a 12-by-42-foot storage unit to accommodate the in flux of gently used items to be auctioned off at this year’s fundraiser.
A 1989 Dodge Shadow is among the items that has been donated so far, he said.
“We do have household items, some furniture…,” Sanders said. “I don’t know if we have any appliances or not. I’m sure there will be plenty (of items) for the flea market.”
This year’s auction event is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, at the Lake County Fairgrounds. The kitchen as well as flea market will open at 8 a.m., with a viewing of the auction items on tap from 8 to 10 a.m.
A silent auction will also be held, Sanders said.
