Lloyd Sanford Tatro

Lloyd Sanford Tatro, 91, died at the Lake District Hospital on Friday, April 27, 2012.
He was born to Ebon and Meda (Petty) Tatro in Lakeview on April 18, 1921.
Lloyd’s early years were lived in Dry Creek and New Idaho, where he received his elementary education. He graduated from Lakeview High School with the class of 1939. While attending high school he worked as a projectionist for Merle Alger in the theater. After graduation, he moved to San Diego and worked for Consolidated Aircraft (Howard Hughes) until he was drafted into the Army in 1942. He served in the European Theater during World War II and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. Lloyd returned to Lakeview after he received his honorable discharge in 1946 and never left.
He and the former Margaret Bell Wallis were married in Lakeview on June 24, 1950.
Lloyd was truly a “Jack of All Trades”. He did about everything a person could do from finishing hardwood floors to running a movie projector.
Lloyd was a family oriented man and received his greatest amount of pleasure from his family. He also loved camping, hunting, fishing and most other outdoor activities. He enjoyed children and served as an assistant Boy Scout Master for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Edwin Wayne Tatro.
He is survived by wife Margaret of Lakeview; son Douglas Tatro of Lakeview; daughter and son-in-law Tanis and Dale Archer of Gouverneur, N.Y.; sister Annabell Vogel of The Dalles; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Services for Lloyd will be Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Desert Rose Funeral Chapel with interment following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with military honors provided by the Layne Clifton V.F.W. Post 4070. Visitation will be at Desert Rose Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 2 from 9 to 5.
Contributions in Lloyd’s memory may be made to Lake County Search and Rescue, 513 Center St., Lakeview 97630, Lakeview Disaster Unit, P.O. Box 1007, Lakeview 97630 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
