Though the speed bumps for the process have been difficult, Sarah Davis, Lakeview High School band and choir teacher, would like to put together a community musical production of Beauty and the Beast.
The company that licenses shows for performance, Music Theatre International, usually requires that an organization apply for the license.
After some work, Davis found out she might not need to organize a group before applying.
“I should be able to get an account and get approved for a show,” said Davis, after communicating with the company. She has an application in the works, but isn’t sure what the final cost of the licensing will be.
Once she has a better idea of the cost required for the venture, Davis plans to see if she can partner with an existing community organization for funding purposes.
The partnership would allow those interested in the production to donate toward its realization without the complications of forming a new group to manage the money.
