Local quilter’s artistry on display at Charter office

March 27, 2013 by

A local quilter’s handcrafted artistry will be showcased at the Charter Communications office during the month of April.

Norma Lund of Lakeview’s quilts will be part of a month-long showcase of works by members of the Lake County Arts and Crafts Association. Lund’s display represents many years of her own quilting efforts.

“I started quilting in the 1970s when we lived in Alaska,” she said, “and have quilted ever since.”

Over the years, Lund’s interests have increased in the realm of completing or repairing older quilts, she said, and her own works are machine-pieced and hand-quilted to completion.

Additionally, Lund is a member of the Sagebrush Quilters, a local group that has met for the past 20 years or so. The group’s activities have include making quilts for the library, veterans, Project Linus and Doernbeckers Children’s Hospital in Portland.

The group has also assisted with a number of quilt shows and mutually supports and encourages its members in their quilting endeavors, Lund said.
