Lakeview resident Daren Cuff finished third overall in the second annual Rogue River Rampage, held on Saturday, March 29.
A four-mile outdoor run/walk through treacherous terrain and over various obstacles, the mud run was organized by the Gold Beach Chamber of Commerce as a dirty trek across Huntley Park’s Rogue River Walk Trail.
Obstacles awaiting the participants included a wooden vertical wall, a river run, a rope climb, net covered bridge, and a crawl through a culvert. Those participating in the rainy and muddy affair were rewarded with a large bonfire at the finish line to warm up, with beer and hot dogs available. An entry fee of $40 was required, with all registrants receiving a t-shirt.
Of the over 40 participants in the walk/run, Cuff went from dead last at the start all the way up to third place overall over the four mile course, dredging through mud and over obstacles to earn his place on the podium.
Sponsors of the event included Coastal Home Health and Hospice, Curry Health Network, Huntley Park, and Gold Beach Chamber of Commerce.
