Loyal Carl Forga

Loyal Carl Forga, 80, died at a Bend Care Center Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013.
The death occurred because of a tragic accident at his home in Lakeview December of 2011.
Carl was born Jan. 23, 1933 in Glenwood, Ark. to Edmon and Elsie Mae (Story) Forga.
Carl moved with his family from Norman, Ark. to Finn Rock on the McKenzie River in June of 1946. In September of that year the family moved to Lakeview where he had since lived.
Carl married Elaine Hamilton Feb. 6, 1994 in Lakeview.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; brothers Elvis, Elvin and baby Kenneth; sisters Eva Mae Alexander and Laverne Forga.
Carl leaves behind his wife Elaine~the love of his life; brothers Perry Forga of Lakeview and Clyde Forga of Medford; sister Rada Ann Jackson of Talent; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carl’s only transportation was his trusty bicycle which he kept in excellent running order.
He did have a few minor accidents with automobiles over the years; however the citizens of Lakeview were very watchful when they saw him on his bicycle, for which the family is very grateful.
In nice weather he and his bicycle made many daily rounds to his brother Perry’s home, the Polar Bear and the Pizza Villa. Eventually he would end up on main street in town where you would find him sitting on one of the many benches listening to his Walkman Radio and visiting with passersbye. Many times he would be joined by his faithful dog Dori.
In the winter months you would see Carl shoveling snow off of sidewalks and roofs and helping friends and neighbors in any way that he could.
Funeral Services will be held at the Gathering Place on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. followed by the burial at the Sunset Park Cemetery.

Carl was a fine man and if you didn’t know him you missed something in life. Even though I have not seen him for years because I moved away from Lakeview I often thought about him when I talk with someone about my youth and growing up in Lake County.
