Margie Pierson Jones, 91, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 in Atlanta, Ga.
Margie was born on Jan. 3, 1922. She was welcomed by loving parents, Amos Pierson and Mae Berg Pierson. Margie was the youngest of many brothers and sisters. As the baby of the family, she became an aunt at birth, having numerous nieces who were older than she.
Margie was raised on the Pierson Ranch west of Lakeview, where she was no stranger to the hard work of ranch life in the days when most of the family food was produced on the ranch. She attended Vernon Elementary and Lakeview High schools. She went on to Oregon State College on a Dr. Bernard Daly Scholarship graduating with honors in Business.
During WW II, she married Ervin C. Jones and their marriage was blessed with four children. After the war, Margie worked to support her family while Ervin attended dental school. After graduating from dental school, Ervin set up his dental practice in Solano County and Margie managed his business office. Margie and Ervin were later divorced.
On her own, Margie moved to a new home in Fairfield, Calif., where she often welcomed family and friends for extended visits. Margie sat on the steering committee of the Rockville Presbyterian Church in Fairfield when they were building their house of worship. She also served on the scholarship board at Solano College.
In 2008, at the age of 86, Margie embarked on what would be the last big adventure of her life, selling her home and relocating to Atlanta, Ga. Her daughter, Jennifer, and her partner, Roxanne Sullivan, took Margie into their home. Margie lived comfortably thanks to the loving care of her girls, who created a beautiful living space for her in their home.
Margie was preceded in death by parents Amos and Mae Pierson; son Harold W. Jones, Sr.; brothers Loyal, Karl, Wayland and Warren; sisters Ferall Pierson, Judith Price, Verda Winward, Aleta M Roush and Udell Pierson.
