Marjorie “Jackie” Donovan

Marjorie “Jackie” Donovan,79, died in Las Vegas, Nev. on Sunday, March 2, 2014. She was born in Douglas, Wyo. to Pascal and Ruby (Brow) Holloway on July 22, 1934.

Jackie spent her early years on her grandmothers ranch where she attended a one room school house where her grandmother taught.

Her parents moved to Butte, Mont. where she met and married Robert “Buck” Donovan. They led an interesting life living in various mining communities throughout the western United States. Buck went to work at the Nevada Test Site and they lived many years in Las Vegas. When Buck retired they made their home in Lakeview.

Jackie enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting, woodworking, traveling and was a notorious collector of numerous and various objects. Jackie believed her greatest accomplishment and pride was in her family. Her family life centered around the kitchen table with a cup of coffee. She was loved by her children’s friends who came to just talk or get advise. After Buck’s death, she moved to Las Vegas to be with her daughter Jolene and son-in-law Allan. She always felt her home was in Lakeview.

Jackie was preceded in death by husband, Buck; sons, Robert and David Donovan; brothers, Jim and Mike Holloway and sisters, Maria Adams and Debbie Acuna.

She is survived by children, Jackie and Gregg Eadie, Jean Donovan and Diana Shaw, Jolene and Allan Shabet, Jerlyn Donovan and Kathy Donovan; brother, James Holloway; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Socorro Holloway; sister, Vickie Griswold; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at the St. de Sales Catholic Church in Las Vegas on Thursday, March 6, 2014 and a grave side service was held at the Sunset Park Cemetery in Lakeview on Monday, March 10, 2014.

Contributions in memory of Jackie may be sent to St. Vincent De Paul, P.O. Box 1663, Medford  97501 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Local services were under the direction of Desert Rose Funeral Chapel.
