Town Council approved the street closure request filed by those filing on behalf of the MC Chuck Wagon Museum, which is set for its grand opening on Saturday, Aug. 10.
The street closure request will run from the Les Schwab building to the former Collins Motors Dealership and will be closed for the duration of the grand opening, which will be from 1 to 4 p.m.
The ranching heritage museum will showcase the historic chuck wagon that served as the summer home for the MC cowboys that were out on the desert, as well as saddles and rigging belonging to many MC buckaroos.
The exhibit will be a closed building with kiosks and information that visitors, who can view everything from the outside, can observe the rich history of the old wagon.
The main section will hold the historic MC chuck wagon itself, which portrays a scene camped out on the desert with cook tents and stoves set up for meals and the bedrolls of cowboys peppering the area. There are also some saddles, riatas, chaps, bits and hats of many of the Lake, Harney and Modoc County men who buckarooed for the MC.
At the grand opening, there will be a chuckwagon barbecue served from the chuckwagon itself, which has been refurbished. Tickets are available online at www.mcranchchuckwagon.com or at the Lake County Chambers for $12. This will be the last meal served before it gets put into the exhibit. After the opening, the chuckwagon will be put into the museum and enclosed for the sake of preserving its history.
The MC Chuck Wagon Museum is located at 429 N. F St.
