Mile High Striders running club is organizing a 45-mile relay race, stretching across back roads from Lakeview to Adel, scheduled for Saturday, July 12, starting at 7:30 a.m.
Being called the first annual Freedom Relay, registration forms were required by Monday, July 7, with suggested team sizes being 6-8 members. Smaller teams are permitted, but results in team members having to run further. One team member must be designated team leader, listing all team members on the registration forms.
The course will lead from the Lakeview pool through Bullard Canyon on Hwy 2-22 along back roads to NF-3915. Progressing through scenic remote mountainous terrain, the course winds past Dismal Creek onto Barley Camp Road to Twentymile Road, finishing in Adel.
Registration fees are $30 for Mile High Striders members and $35 for non-members per runner. Registration includes a Freedom Relay t-shirt and post-race lunch in Adel.
Each team is also expected to provide a support vehicle to follow the relay member currently running and carry the remaining team members. Support vehicles should carry water, food and first aid.
Registration packets are available at Howard’s Drugs, Back Yard Floral and Holloway Photography. For more information please contact Melinda Howard at 541-947-4504 or 541-219-0750.
