Minnie Jo Ruda, 78, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in Lakeview.
Minnie was born to George and Mary (Mote) Cannon in Fort Sumner, N. M. on Oct. 16, 1934. When she was very young, the family moved to Clovis, Calif. where she grew up and graduated from Clovis High School in 1952.
She married Stuart Ruda in Clovis, Calif. on Aug. 31, 1952. For the next 10 years, while Stuart was in the Navy, she lived at several different Navy bases. Following Stuart’s discharge they lived in San Luis Obispo, Calif. until migrating to Oregon in 1962 and finally settled in Lakeview in 1971.
Minnie’s career as a beautician spanned more than 20 years. At the time of her retirement she was the owner/operator of her own shop.
Minnie was an active member of the First Baptist Church since coming to Lakeview. She truly loved her grandchildren and enjoyed following the activities of those who were involved in sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stuart; brother Dale Cannon; sister Nina Strickland.
Minnie is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Carol Ruda of Jefferson and Steve and Stevie Ruda of Lakeview; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Tom Albertson of Lakeview; brother Bill Cannon of Texas; sister Vickie Cannon of Madera, Calif.; grandchildren Jeremi Ruda, Ami Ruda, Andi Ruda, Katie Plato, Jamie Morris, Kristi Albertson and Caitlin Simms; 12 great-grandchildren; her care giving family Janiece VanDeusen and Lettie Blevins.
Visitation will be at Desert Rose Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. with interment in the Westside Cemetery followed by a pot luck in the Westside Grange Hall.
