Myrle Shepard

Myrle Shepard, 78, died in Portland, on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012.
She was born to Harry A. and Mary Margaret (Albertson) Crowl in Lakeview on Dec. 10, 1933.
Myrtle grew up on a farm on the Westside, where she attended Union Elementary School. She graduated from Lakeview High School with the class of 1952.
In 1957 she left Lakeview to move to the Willamette Valley and then returned in 1977.
She was a Certified Nurses Aide and worked as a health care provider and was involved in patient transport. She was also a self-employed pilot care operator and hag glider retrieve. She had delivered the Herald and News newspaper for a number of years was affectionately known as “the paper lady”.
Myrtle was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers and was a past member of the Westside Grange. She was an active member of the Lakeview Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, John J. Shepard.
Myrle is survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, William and Elizabeth Lamb of San Diego, Calif. And Bret and Elizabeth Shepard of Fairbanks, Alaska; son Edward Shepard of Ester, Alaska, daughter Bonnie Port of Eugene; daughter and son-in-law, Francis and Greg Redik of Springfield; sister Marie Morris of Brookings; sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Bud Lamb of Lakeview; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Crowl of Cottonwood, Calif; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the Lakeview Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with inurement in the Westside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
