Nellie Shannon, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the age of 91.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put the needs of her family first. Although she was almost blind since 50 years old, she still performed all of her daily activities with impeccable accuracy.
She loved playing cards with her sister Ethel. She always enjoyed going to car shows with her husband Bill, and they won numerous national awards. Her passion was the local flea market where she found many “treasures.” Nellie was always a grateful woman. She made others feel special, and because she valued a college education, she helped three generations earn college degrees.
Her husband of 74 years, Bill passed away Jan. 26, 2013.
Nellie is survived by her daughters Pat of Eugene and Sharon of Redding, Calif.; her grandsons Guy, Steve and Jay Gemmer; great-grandsons Guy Jr., Colton and Dillon Gemmer; great-granddaughters Brittany Gemmer and Brandy Howell.
She passed over with the love of family members and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life ceremony in the summer and time and location will be announced.
