New coach hopes for good football season

August 28, 2013 by

With over 40 members this year, the football season looks good for new coach Rick Stupak.  As covered in an earlier article, this is Stupak’s first year with the High School, and first time as head football coach at a school of this size.

There are only a few non-freshman members of the team that weren’t part of the program last year, with 12 juniors returning for their final year as seniors.  So far, Stupak says it’s been a good experience here for him, and he’s enjoyed seeing the team’s improvement over the days of practices in offence and defense.

His last job was as an assistant coach at Central Catholic High School in Portland, and the program was so large that all he handled was the freshman team, with a freshman class of around 60 students.

Stupak hasn’t determined what the size of the junior varsity team will be, but would like to have around 25 kids playing junior varsity games.
