A grand opening celebration for a new massage business is scheduled for Saturday, March 2.
Known as Abby’s Healing Hands Therapeutic Massage, owner and operator Abigail Brown will host the grand opening from 1 to 4 p.m. at her newly-opening North F Street location between Razor’s Edge salon and the former MG’s Place.
Brown recently moved to Lakeview from the Portland area with her parents. Her father, Kevin Brown, recently took over as the new pastor at Trinity Baptist Church.
“My parents were moving down here, and I grew up in a small town,” she said. “And I was not a fan of Portland. Portland wasn’t really my speed.”
Brown said she first took an interest in massage therapy while in college, at the suggestion of her father.
“It’s something I’m really good at, so I’ve been told,” she said.
Brown trained through Everest College’s one-year program in Portland and is a licensed massage therapist with the state of Oregon.
Health benefits to massage therapy include pain and stress relief, Brown said.
Her specialities include Swedish and deep-tissue massage, as well as seated massages for those clients that prefer not to disrobe.
Deep-tissue massage is often used for those that engage in repetitive motion activities, such as sports and running, Brown said.
Door prizes to be given away during the grand opening include one free Swedish massage, one free seated massage and discount coupons.
