A new pastor recently assumed the leadership of the Lakeview Assembly of God church.
Joel Morris replaced former pastor Eddie Foohs who, quite ironically, moved to Spokane, Wash., from which Morris and family have freshly arrived. Even further ‘smallifying’ the world is the fact that Joel’s wife, Kimberlee, grew up in the church that Foohs is now serving.
If this realm of coincidences wasn’t enough, Kimberlee technically hails from Lakeview, as her parents previously lived in the area some 30 years ago but moved from the area when she was 9 or 10 months old.
Call it a long, overdue homecoming of sorts.
With two young children (Andy, 5, and John, 7) in tow, Joel said he viewed the Lakeview opportunity as a chance to break free from the shackles of city life. In Spokane, he worked as a youth pastor for seven years, and prior to that the couple lived in St. Peter, Minn., where Joel was a music pastor.
The couple attended North Central University together in Minneapolis, Minn., where Joel studied music and Kimberlee communications. They’d met in high school, and married two years after they graduated, she said.
