Lake County’s Board of Commissioners effectively quashed rumors circulating of a second natural gas pipeline coming through Lakeview during their Tuesday, June 4, work session.
The commissioners broached the topic during discussion of a short-term lease request on behalf of Ruby Pipeline, LLC, in the Lake County Industrial Park. The company is seeking to lease space for equipment storage as they are planning to perform maintenance and inspection work on the pipeline this summer.
A short-term lease for 30 days was approved by the county for the month of July for this purpose, with the terms of the lease already reviewed and approved by the county’s legal counsel.
An option includes extending the lease beyond its 30-day term, if needed.
Admin. Asst. Denise Thorsted noted that Ruby Pipeline officials had expressed an interest in the use of a building for three weeks during the month of July.
Commissioner Brad Winters noted at that time that he wanted to affirm the falsity of rumors claiming a second pipeline was in the works.
Correspondence from Ruby Pipeline, LLC, to area landowners indicated that the Lake County portion running from Vya, Nev., to Malin would be serviced as the fourth and last segment beginning early this month and concluding at the end of July.
The work is expected to involve cleaning and inspection for dents, wall thickness and outer coating condition on the pipe.
