A planned double header of Lakeview High School junior varsity at North Lake on Friday, May 9, turned into just one very long game, NLHS beating LHS in 10 innings, 15-14.
The game lasted over three hours, eliminating the possibility of the second matchup in the double header, but the first game proved exciting enough.
North Lake High School took an early lead, followed by another North Lake scoring outburst to be up 12-6 in the fifth inning. A Lakeview rally resulted in seven runs in the sixth inning, putting the Honkers out in front 13-12.
“We had them there in the sixth inning and if we’d made one play, we wouldn’t have given up a single run,” said North Lake High School Baseball Coach Nathan Young. “We didn’t make the play, and then they scored seven.”
North Lake scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 14, and there it remained for three innings.
