North Lake wrestler Ward takes third at state

North Lake grappler David Ward brought home a third-place finish at the recent OSAA 1A /2A high school wrestling championships held Feb. 22 and 23 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

As the lone placer at the North Lake Cowboys wrestling squad, Ward, a senior, defeated Enterprise senior John Green by fall in just under two minutes (1:57), the latter of which took fourth place.

In the 106 lbs. weight category, freshman Wyatt Waldron fell to Pine Eagle sophomore Isaiah Simpson in 34 seconds, the latter of whom advanced to finish in third place, overall.

Andrew Miles, a senior, fell to Lowell junior Chasen Clayton who would advance to finish in third place.

As of Saturday, North Lake and Neah-Kah-Nie’s teams had tied for 18th out of 28 places with 18 points. Lowell stood at the top with 115 points.
