Joley Powell is a wonderful young girl who deserved to be recognized as one of our scholar athletes from our fantastic Honkers Student Body this year.

Your omission of her name as one of the Valedictorians of the Class of 2013 was very upsetting to those of us who were so very proud of her academic achievements.

Joley has been a leader in her class for many years and worked extremely hard this year to gain the top grades in her class.

Your one line apology, on the second page of the newspaper, for omitting her name from the list of Valedictorians was not enough.

A short story, written by the reporter who wrote the original story, should have been placed on the front page of the newspaper.

This certainly would have helped to alleviate her disappointment of not seeing her name in the original article. She deserved this recognition and more.

Two weeks prior the Examiner did a profile on Joley along with the other valedictorians and salutatorians.
