Orvell Allen

Orvell Allen, 90, died at the Lake District Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011.
Orvell was born at Camden, Ark. on Feb. 21, 1920 and grew up in Malvern, Ark. He came to Lakeview in about 1939 and was drafted into the Army on Oct. 1, 1942. He served honorably in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II and was discharged on Nov. 25, 1944.
He married Hazel Pike in Winnemucca, Nev. on March 9, 1948.
After a long career working in saw mills in Lakeview, he retired from Louisiana Pacific Sawmill in 1982.
Orvell enjoyed traveling, watching baseball and his daily drives around town. In his younger years he loved hunting, fishing and camping with Hazel.
Orvell was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Arlie and Ebbie; sister, Irene Stewart and niece, Margaret Perry.
He is survived by nephews, Kenneth Stewart and Jim and wife Shirley Stewart, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Desert Rose Funeral Chapel.
Services are planned for Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel with interment in the Westside Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Lakeview Layne Clifton V.F.W. Post 2070.

Desert Rose Funeral Chapel of Lakeview is in charge of the arrangements.
