Patrick Francis Cosgrove

Patrick Francis Cosgrove, 82, of Central Point, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011.

He was born Sept. 22, 1928 in Chicago, Ill., to Richard and Hannah Cosgrove.  Soon after he moved to Lakeview,  where he resided until 1999, when he made the Rogue Valley his home.

Pat served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948.  He returned to Lakeview where he married Dorothy Williams in 1949, and remained married until 2002.  Pat and Dorothy raised their three children in Lakeview.

Pat was employed at the Lake County Assessor’s Office for four years before working at the Blair and Snyder Insurance Agency for 16 years.  He eventually acquired the insurance agency and worked there until 1981.  Always interested in Lakeview and Lake County, Pat served on many service boards and committees including Lakeview Water Commission and the original Lake District Hospital Board, where he served as treasurer.  For many years Pat was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Knights of Columbus, Lake County Round-Up Board and later  he was voted Lakeview Chamber of Commerce Senior Citizen of the Year.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents;  eldest son, Richard Cosgrove.

Pat is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Ken and Nikki Cosgrove of Medford; daughter Joan Cosgrove of Medford; sisters and brothers-in-law Dooley and Ed Vinoski of Ironwood, Mich. and .Joanna and Bill O’Sullivan of Port Orford; sisters Norene Swingle of Medford and Katherine Pitcher of Klamath Falls; grandchildren Patrick and Julie Cosgrove of Waddell, Ariz., Cassie and Tony McCarty of Buckeye, Ariz.,  Kilian and Keenan Cosgrove,both of Medford and Mariah Strongin of Los Angeles, Calif.; great-grandchildren Mercedez, Riley, Bryson, Temeko, Aiden, and Emory; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church in Central Point.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances  may be made to Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, 600 Beebe Rd., Central Point  97502.
