Records fall at track season opener

Lakeview’s harriers kicked off the 2013 track and field season in style, with multiple performances that broke existing school records.

The LHS squad traveled to Klamath Falls on Thursday, March 14, for the Basin Relays event. Miranda Conley and Delaney Hall each took a stab at the school’s javelin and pole vault records, respectively. Conley broke the existing javelin record with the longest throw, while Hall tied the school’s pole vault record with an 8’6” effort, according to head coach Bobbie Steninger.

Conley additionally took second in the discus event.

Other highlights included Pierce Schreder finishing sixth in the pole vault, Michael Cooney finishing third in the long jump, and Simmone Landau, who took third place in the pole vault, which was won by Hall.

“They were a fantastic team,” Steninger said of the athletes’ performances at the season opening meet.

Lakeview will next travel to Bend for the Summit Invitational on Wednesday, April 3.
