Richard Lane Shaw, 63, passed away in Richland, Wash. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Lane was born in Lakeview on Jan. 28, 1950 to Leslie and Marion Shaw. He graduated from Lakeview High School in the class of 1969. While in high school he participated in basketball and track. After high school he attended Umpqua Community College. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970 and served in the Vietnam conflict. After returning to the States, Lane moved to Salem, where he met his bride-to-be Kathi LaFramboise. Returning to Lakeview, Lane worked as a well driller for several years. From there they went to Wyoming for uranium tailings jobs, which also took them to Colorado. Finally settling in the Tri-Cities, Wash., where Lane worked in the locating utilities business until his retirement. Lane loved to fish, golf and he especially loved spending time with his family and spoiling all his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lane is survived by his wife Kathi; brother and sister-in-law Alan and Nina Shaw; sister and brother-in-law Diana and Bill Millsap; sister Gail Reed; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Larry and Teri Arnall, Paul and Patty Lyons, Mike and Sue LaFramboise; nieces and nephews Ken and Jennifer Millsap, Mike and Tammy Millsap, Richard and Stephenie Millsap, Susan and Steve Lightle, Seth and Kayla Buss, Zak Shaw, Jeremy and Kelli LaFramboise, Joshua Arnall, Ryan and Heather Marr, Kristin and Heath VanPatton, Brian and Tammy LaFramboise, Kevin and Jamie Blair; numerous great-nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Lakeview at a later date.

Lane’s philosophy of life was: Life’s journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out shouting, “Holy crap, what a ride!!!!”
