Robert Duggan Jr., 84, died at Hermitage Health Care Center in Elizabethton, Tenn. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009.
Robert was born Dec. 2, 1924 in Franklin, N.C. to J.R. and Minta Jane Ledford Duggan.
He was a native of Franklin, N.C. and has been a resident of Unicoi County for most of his life. Junior Duggan as everyone knew him in Lakeview retired as a timber faller. He loved hunting and fishing.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Coffee Ridge Baptist Church and the VFW Post #5809 of Erwin, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Freeman, Grady, Johnny and Charlie Duggan; sisters Ola Tilson, Christina Willis, Bessie Banks and Ollie McIntosh.
Junior is survived by son and daughter-in-law Mickey and Kathie Duggan of Lakeview; daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Jim Cyr of Lakeview and Sheila and Benny Hagy of Jonesborough, Tenn.; sisters Dorothy Hoyle and Nina Duggan of Johnson City, Tenn. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clate W. Briggs Jr. officiating. Special music was provided by Rev. Briggs and Inez Chandler. Graveside committal was held Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 in Evergreen Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers were Davy Garland, Lynn Burchfield, Eugene Harris, Dennis Foster, Jerry Harris and Ray Chandler.
