Ticket sales began on May 21 for the annual Rotary Club Wild Goose Chase, scheduled for July 12 at noon at Drews Creek.
Rotary Club members are selling tickets for $20 each, with corporate packages of 10 tickets available for $200.
The annual fundraiser has made a big splash for the past 14 years, where rubber duckies are simultaneously tossed into Drews Creek and race downstream. Tickets match a number attached to each ducky, with the top finishers earning valuable prizes for the lucky duckies.
Funds raised this year go towards the ongoing youth soccer field project being supported by the Lakeview Rotary Club, with hopes of construction starting by the fall to provide a proper field for AYSO soccer programs and the Lakeview High School soccer teams.
Tickets can be purchased at Dan’s Auto Sales, True Value, Pacific Crest Credit Union, Sterling Bank, Don Liddycoat CPA, Arrow Realty, Favell-Utley, and from any Rotary Club member.
Andrew Rucker, Committee Chairman for the goose chase, hopes to have youth soccer layers also assist with ticket sales outside Safeway in the weeks preceding the big race.
The purchase of a corporate ticket package of $200 enters a blue duck in the race along with ten yellow ducks, or individual tickets are available for $20. There is no limit on the amount of tickets that can be purchased. The top blue ducks could win a 50” HDTV or Polaris 570 4×4 vehicle. General prizes for yellow ducks include donated items from Ed Staub & Sons Petroleum, Pro Build, SS Equipment, True Value, Aspen Ridge, the 39er Store, Town of Lakeview, Les Schwab and Safeway. Rotary Club is also providing several prizes, including a $10,000 Lakeview merchant gift certificate.
Ticket holders do not need to be present to win, but are strongly encouraged to join in the fun on Saturday, July 12, where barbeque and refreshments will be available. The race will occur at Drews Creek outside Drews Reservoir at the first road crossing past the campground.
