Shirley Hermena Thompson, 89, passed away on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 at the Lake District Hospital.
Shirley was born Oct. 10, 1920 in Cedarville, Calif. to Jacob and Mae Belle Rechsteiner.
She grew up and graduated high school in Cedarville. On Aug. 13, 1938 she married George Wade Thompson. Shirley and Wade lived in New Pine Creek, where they raised their four children. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1988. Shirley loved fishing, rock hounding, traveling and most of all spending time with her family. She was fortunate to have her children living close by and be able to stay in her own home until the day of her death.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Wade on June 21, 1991; sister Barbara (Bobbie) Heins of Oceanside, Calif. in 1993.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Carolyn Thompson of New Pine Creek, Marvin and Nancy Thompson of New Pine Creek and David and Debbie Thompson of New Pine Creek; daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Jay Counts of Valley Falls; grandchildren John Thompson and Deanna Murphy of Lakeview, Jerrod Thompson of Klamath Falls, Marva Nolan of Mount Vernon, Doug and Mike Thompson of Omak, Wash., Mickayla Thompson of New Pine Creek, Jayna Ferrell and Dusty Counts of Valley Falls; eight great-grandchildren.
At Shirley’s request, no public service will be held.
