Lake County Clerk Stacie Geaney confirmed that sufficient signatures were collected as of Wednesday, Jan. 16, for a recall effort petition in the North Lake area.
The effort, led by petitioner Ludella Laylon, is directed against all five members of the North Lake School District No. 14 board: Leah Harris, Clayton Sharp, Buck Church, Jr., Dwight Roth and Shane Forman.
Geaney said that 117 signatures were needed for the petition to be authenticated, and the petition signature collection deadline was Feb. 7.
The five board members had until Tuesday, Jan. 22, to respond to the petition, and a special election will be scheduled for Feb. 19, Geaney said.
The recall effort, according to the petition documents, is based around assertions that the board is not acting in the interest of its represented public.
