Lakeview High School’s softball team held its annual Softball Banquet on Wednesday, May 22 in the school cafeteria.
The banquet signified the end of the season for the Lady Honkers, who finished the season 8-16 overall and 3-6 in league play.
Despite missing the playoffs and finishing fourth in the league, they ended their season on a high note with a 28-8 drubbing of the Illinois Valley Cougars.
Tracey Brooks and Suzi Larson are the team moms and Jackie Robinson and Heidi Albertson coach the team.
The staff provided dessert for the banquet, while the girls provided all the food and drinks.
All League First Team winner of the Southern Cascade League awards was Amanda Arcularius, infield. Mandi Brooks, outfield, Tori Crumrine, outfield, Rachel Leal, catcher, and Joley Powell, infield won All-League second team honors for the Honkers.
Jessica Alves, infield, received honorable mention.
Scholar Athletes for the Lady Honkers were Ashely Reese, Rachel Leal, Brandi Larson, Abbi Brooks, Amanda Arcularius, Tori Crumrine, Katherine McKenzie, Rachel Thomas, Carly Larson, Hannah Ramsey, Mandi Brooks, Joley Powell and Kristina Gomez.
Softball also had its team awards, which honored each member of the team with an award commemorating her value to the team.
Brandi Larson won the Coach’s Award. Joley Powell won Most Inspirational player. Abbi Brooks and Rachel Thomas earned Most Improved Players awards. Mandi Brooks earned Most Valuable Player.
