Soroptimists of Lakeview recently issued grant funding to several local projects and organizations.
For Spring 2013, the local service club donated $500 to the Lakeview Swim Team in support of student fees, insurance, coaches and scholarship, as well as $759 to the Lake County Crisis Center for four documentary films on domestic violence.
The Lake County Public Library received $2,000 for preschool reading room furnishings, while the Town of Lakeview “Save Our Pool” project received $2,741, which does not include funds generated by the Drive 4 Ur Community event that the Soroptimists co-sponsored with Hall Motor Company.
Once funds are received from the latter event, they will be donated to the pool project.
The Soroptimists of Lakeview donates funds each spring to local groups and organizations to support activities that support the betterment of women and girls, or that support a community event.
Groups must submit an application that fully explains their need to money and how the money will be spent. The club, through their Programs of Service committee, screens and reviews all applicants, making a recommendation to the membership for final awards.
