Wheels are, or more appropriately a continuous track, is in motion for a fundraiser to purchase a specialized Track Chair later this year for a as yet-to-be-named veteran in need.
Known as the Spare Change Challenge, donated spare change is sought for the effort, which officially kicked off with a donation by U.S. Bank at a November 2013 veteran’s dinner.
Proceeds will be directed to the goal of $15,000, which covers the purchase and outfitting of the chair. The goal is to present the chair to a veteran in need by Veteran’s Day this year.
Track chairs feature a highly specialized design utilizing tank-like traction mobility as well as the capability to help victims of paralysis raise from a seated to standing position while maintaining the utmost in the chair’s stability.
Donations may be brought to the office of Lake County Veteran’s Service Officer Charlie Pike, any member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4070 or Aimee Kintzley at U.S. Bank.
