Susan Jane Vincent

Susan Jane Vincent was taken by our Lord on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013.

She was born to Irvin and Buna Belle (McGrew) Faris on Nov. 5, 1931 in Eugene. Susan and her family moved to New Pine Creek in 1936.  She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1949, Salutatorian of her class, receiving the Daly Fund. She married Kelton Edy Vincent on July 3, 1949. She graduated from Southern Oregon State College in 1969, with a degree in education. Mrs. Vincent was a schoolteacher starting her career at Stateline.  She also taught in Bly and then at Fremont and Arthur D. Hay in Lakeview.

As well as touching many lives as an educator for so many years, Susan was a member of the Truth, a lifetime member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Demolay, The Order of Eastern Star, Job’s Daughters, Sage Brush Echo’s, Lake Community Theatre, board member of Treasure Valley Community College, Tall Town Travelers, Lakeview Elks Lodge. She was a master quilter and seamstress, painter, potter, supporter of the 4-H student exchange program, Cub Scout den mother, 4-H leader, founder of Sue’s Band and an accomplished pianist. She was a fan of anything that her family was involved in, she enjoyed playing cards at the Elkettes and Hospital Auxiliary Card Parties, and was a fundraiser for the New Pine Creek Cemetery.  Kelton and Susan enjoyed traveling the world.  She and Kelton were anonymous contributors to Christmas Food Baskets.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Irvin and Buna Belle Faris; first son Vernon Vincent; brother Donald Faris.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Kelton Vincent; son and daughter-in-law Robin and DeNae Vincent; daughters and sons–in-law Darla and Philip Dorn, Anita and Steve Kock, Tanya and Brad Winters; grandchildren Jenny Patzke, Jodi Vaughn, Jeremy Winters, Aimee Kintzley, Kolten Kock, Brandi Harris, Kory Kock, Kellen Clemens, Keegan Kock; great-grandchildren, Tenysen and Jerry Kelton Patzke, Kaydyn and Kya Kintzley,  Kloey and Zaryk Winters, Kate, Grant and Scarlett Clemens, Brooklynn Kock, Rileigh, and Ali Vaughn; brother Robert Faris; sister Janet Luesink; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was a daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, aunt,  grandmother,  great grandmother,  mentor, and  teacher. Susan’s family was very important to her.

Contributions can be made to the Daly Fund, Lake County Hospice or a charity of your choice.

She will always be our Hero…

A Celebration of Susan’s life was held at AD Hay School Auditorium at 11:05 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013.
