Thomas Clarence Cervantes

Thomas  Clarence Cervantes, 81,  died at the Lake District Hospital on Friday, March 16, 2012.
Tom was born to Clarence and Esther Cervantes in Bakersfield, Calif. on Nov. 2, 1930. He grew up in Bakersfield and worked in the cotton fields as a young man. He later moved to Sebastopol, Calif. and worked for the Sepastopol Apple Cannery until retiring in 1973.
Tom was married to Neoma Wood in Santa Rosa, Calif. on May 10, 1969. They made their home in Sebastopol until 1973 when they moved to Santa Rosa after losing their home to a fire. From Santa Rosa they moved to Lakeview where Tom worked as a custodian for the school district. They later moved to Texas for a couple years before returning to Lakeview in 1999.
Tom enjoyed puzzle books, playing yahtzee, solitaire and recycling, but more than anything else he enjoyed helping others.
Tom is survived by wife Neoma of Lakeview; daughter Sheila Marie Cervantes of Lakeview; brother and sister-in-law Frank and Wanda Cervantes; grandchildren Joshua David Kirjorski, Christina Marie Kirjorski and Phillip Thomas Williams; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Gathering Place on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 2 p.m.
Contributions in the memory of Tom may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
