A deadline of Tuesday, Aug. 26 is set for interested applicants in the two seats up for election on Lakeview Town Council, with packets available for pick-up at Town Hall.
The two four-year elective positions on the council currently occupied by Sharon Faulkner and Mike Warren will be up for election as part of the general election voted on Tuesday, Nov. 4. There are no primaries associated with the town council elections, all who apply will appear on the ballot.
While the deadline to file for candidacy is Tuesday, Aug. 26, there is a three-day grace period where candidates have until Friday, Aug. 29 to withdraw from their candidacy for any reason. There are no fees associated with filing for town council.
Currently, only Warren intends to run for re-election, and is the only person to have filed for candidacy for either of the two seats as of Thursday, Aug. 14.
The new terms for the two council members elected to the seats will begin on Jan. 1, 2015. It is a paid position.
Lakeview Town Council consists of four council members and the Mayor of Lakeview. Duties include bi-monthly meetings, liaison for committees, and acting as dignitaries at special events.
