Town, Lakeview Rural Fire agreement under review

February 6, 2013 by

Lakeview’s Town Council had little new business to discuss during their Tuesday, Jan. 22, meeting.

The sole action taken pertained to the agreement in place between the Town of Lakeview and the Lakeview Rural Fire Protection District. Following a work session discussion held in executive session earlier that same afternoon, the Town directed Town Mgr. Ray Simms to continue reviewing and updating the terms and conditions of the agreement, as well as compliance with the said agreement’s terms and conditions, which has been in place since 1993.

The Town of Lakeview contracts with Lakeview Rural Fire Protection District for fire response services and houses their equipment inside the fire department barn, Simms said. The rural district boundary is as far south as Crane Creek and encompasses territory north to Cox Creek, as well as territory west to Rabbit Hill Road.

Aside from those within the town limits, the rural protection district also covers properties along the foothills, Simms said.

In other discussion, Katie Kargol spoke on behalf of Lake County Resources Initiative regarding the forthcoming Learning Innovation Center to be housed in the Daly Middle School building. An advisory meeting scheduled for Jan. 29 will discuss a name for this center, she said.
