Filing is currently open for candidates seeking to claim one of two seats up for election on the Lakeview Town Council, to be voted on in the Tuesday, Nov. 4 general election.
Town council members serve four-year terms, with current council members Sharon Faulkner and Mike Warren up for re-election. At this time Warren is the only one of the two currently intending to run again.
Paperwork for candidacy filing is available at Lakeview Town Hall, there is no fee associated with filing. Candidates have until Tuesday, Aug. 26 to file paperwork, and may withdraw their candidacy until Friday, Aug. 29.
There are no primaries associated with town council elections, all who file will appear on the November ballot. Four-year terms for newly elected council members will begin on Jan. 1, 2015.
Responsibilities for town council members include bi-monthly meetings, and occasional additional special meetings. They are signatories on town checking accounts for payroll, liaisons for committees and specific areas of focus as designated, with additional special events and responsibilities as needed.
Lakeview Town Council consists of four council members and the mayor of Lakeview. Town council member is a paid position.
