A special dinner honoring local veterans will be held on the evening of Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Lakeview Elks Lodge, located at 323 N. F St.
The Veteran’s Remembrance Dinner, which serves to recognize veterans for their service in the varied branches of the armed forces, will be held at 5 p.m.
On the menu is chicken and pork loin with gravy, beans, salad, potatoes and desserts.
A primary purpose of the event, in addition to the general recognition of veterans, is to showcase the varied services and outreach available to veterans throughout the county.
Town of Lakeview Mayor Mike Patrick is slated to serve as the master of ceremonies for the evening.
Other speakers will include Aimee Kintzley, who is working on a fundraiser for a track chair, an all-terrain motorized chair unit designed for multipurpose use for an amputee veteran to be selected at a later date.
To kick off the fundraising goal of $15,000, U.S. Bank has donated $300 to the cause, with check to be presented during the veteran’s dinner, Kintzley said. A 50/50 raffle will also be held.
Tickets, free for veterans and $5 for guests, are available at the Lakeview Elks Lodge, as well as at the Lake County Veterans Services office of Charlie Pike, located in the lower level of the Lake County Courthouse.
